Give a Pet a Holiday Home: Join Agee Clymer in Supporting the Franklin County Dog Shelter Thanksgiving Sleepover
This Thanksgiving, Agee Clymer is proud to partner with the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center to bring warmth and love to shelter pets through their Thanksgiving Sleepover event. This unique program allows community members like you to provide temporary homes for dogs and cats over the holiday weekend, giving these animals a chance to experience the comfort and care of a family while the shelter is closed.
Participants will receive a goodie bag with everything they need for their furry guest, including treats, toys, and a leash. With your help, this initiative might even lead to some pets finding their forever homes. Learn more about the event and how we’re committed to helping both people and pets in our community.

Speaker 1 (Host, 0:00):
Agee, Clymer, Mitchell & Portman is a trusted law firm known for its commitment to providing exceptional legal services across a range of practice areas. Here to tell us more is Greg Mitchell. Thank you so much for being here with us today.
Speaker 2 (Greg Mitchell, 0:12):
Hi, Lisa. It’s a pleasure.
Speaker 1 (0:13):
So we’re talking about people getting hurt at work. I mean, that’s something that you guys really specialize in, along with other things. So tell us first: are expenses for medical treatment covered in a work-related injury?
Speaker 2 (0:25):
Sure, medical expenses are covered. But a lot of injured workers—most, actually—that contact our office after an injury don’t understand that they can actually choose their physician. Now, the physician does have to be BWC-certified. It doesn’t have to be a medical doctor; it can be a DO or a chiropractor, okay?
But a lot of injured workers get sent to an urgent care or an occupational health facility. Those doctors certainly can do a great job, but the injured worker kind of thinks that’s where they have to go because Human Resources, their manager, or someone else told them to go there. They just assume that’s their only option.
They do have options, and some of them will go to their primary care physician first, which makes sense, right? But most primary care physicians are not workers’ comp certified. Typically, primary care physicians will also say, “Well, this is work-related. You need to go to an urgent care.” So again, it kind of gets lost that they actually have the option to choose their own physician. We encourage them and let them know their rights when they contact us.
Speaker 1 (1:33):
That’s so good to know. So, you’re saying they don’t need to go to a specific doctor or medical provider. What about the medical treatments? Are those limited?
Speaker 2 (1:42):
They can be limited. They have to be requested by the doctor of record, but most treatments—a wide range of testing and treatments—can be approved by workers’ comp.
The idea is to try to get the injured worker to whatever specialist is needed to get them healed and back to work as soon as possible. Typically, the doctors we work with on a regular basis know that. They know the quickest way to get approvals, whether it’s for additional testing or to see a specialist.
Obviously, we’re there in case there’s a problem. We try to help ensure it gets approved as soon as possible. If someone disputes a requested test or treatment, we step in and take the measures necessary to get it approved.
Speaker 1 (2:25):
So you’re able to help people navigate that entire system when they are injured at work?
Speaker 2 (2:30):
Yeah, pretty much from start to finish. As soon as they call us, not only do we cover the medical portion, but we also ensure they’re getting paid if they’re off work. We make sure they’re paid at the correct rate because sometimes complicated calculations are involved, depending on their work activity.
The main thing is just making sure all their rights are protected.
Speaker 1 (2:52):
It’s so important to give you guys a call. And you have a special event coming up that you’re helping sponsor?
Speaker 2 (2:57):
Yes, we’re really excited about this. We’re partnering with the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center for their Thanksgiving Sleepover event. It’s really cool. Anyone from the community can come in and take one of the dogs or cats home for the holiday weekend while the shelter is closed.
We’ve come up with goodie bags to give to the community members who participate. These include treats, toys, a leash, and other essentials so they have everything they need to take care of the pet over the holiday.
Of course, we’re hoping this might turn into a lifelong relationship for some of the pets, leading to permanent adoptions.
Speaker 1 (3:41):
A forever home. You guys care about people and pets! I love hearing that. Where can people go for more information?
Speaker 2 (3:48):
I think our number’s probably on the screen, but it’s 614-221-3318. Every phone call is a free consultation.
Speaker 1 (3:56):
Thank you so much for being here with us today. It’s such a pleasure to talk to you and learn more information.
Speaker 2 (4:01):
Thank you.
Speaker 1:
And we’ll be right back.
Many members of the Columbus community are already doing their part! Check out some of the fun we’ve had with the Thanksgiving Sleepover event:
